Abney and Teal

Upon completion of my contract on the show Dipdap at Ragdoll productions I was given a chance to train in Maya and join the animation team on The Adventures of Abney and Teal. It was a lot to learn but the shows unconventional approach to 3d made it easier for a 2D guy like me. Most of the action was posed on 4’s and 6’s rather than 2’s and the challenge was to create smooth reading animation whilst maintaining this old school ‘clicky’ aesthetic.

I was given the character Neep to focus on which was a privilege and the only time I think I'll ever get to animate a crazy turnip in little boots. As with Dipdap, Abney and Teal has been a mainstay of Cbeebies since its release nearly ten years ago.
